Summer Concert Season

Ladies and Gentlemen, the much anticipated Summer Concert Season or SCS for short is here. There are a lot of great bands on tour, and only a few months to cram them all in (depending on where you live). So lets get down to it, here are the bands I actually have a ticket to and some speculation on some other events in the SLC area.

U2 - June 3, Rice Eccles Stadium. Salt Lake City.

MGMT - June 4, In The Venue. Salt Lake City.

U2 - June 27, TCF Stadium. Minneapolis.

James Taylor/Carole King - July 15, Energy Solutions Arena. Salt Lake City.

The Devil Whale - July 18, Slowtrain Subterranean. Salt Lake City.

Dave Matthews Band - August 17, USANA Amphitheater. Salt Lake City.

I think thats a good start. Now for a little speculation. The Twilight Concert Series is indeed on for this summer, so don't make plans for Thursday evenings in July and August. I am going to bet that the New Pornographers make an appearance. This is based on their touring schedule during this time, and they just happen to be the type of band that would totally rock this event. I would love to see Neko Case, since I was still living in Minnesota the last time she came through Salt Lake. Lets keep our fingers crossed here people. Also, a less safe bet would be She & Him, another group that would do well in the TCS environment. I will keep you posted when I know more details, which should be official sometime in the next few weeks.
