RCA-AYL-3752
Original Release 1975
If you are anything like me, you love Lou Reed (Readers note: I also love the Velvet Underground but that topic is for a future post). Maybe his solo work isn't in constant rotation, but it is a staple none the less, and I haven't met anyone who turns the radio dial when "Walk on the Wild Side" comes on, one of the great rock & roll songs of all time.
I am a huge live album fan, and this happens to be a great live set from 1975 showcasing Lou Reed preforming at the Howard Stein Academy of Music in New York City. This 6 song set, which by modern standards would be considered a live EP features some of Reed's best songwriting. There are three stand out classics "Walk on the Wild Side", "Satellite of Love", and "I'm Waiting for the Man"; and also includes "Vicious", "Oh Jim", and "Sad Song".
Lou Reed really brings the jams here, even if its only 6 songs. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a live album fan or for someone who is new to Lou Reed. The vinyl is standard weight black.
